YouTube Creators, Analysis, and Channel Aspects

YouTube is something that I personally use on a daily basis, it can be a really good source of information or news on a wide variety of topics. There is a lot of good and informative content as well as some content that may not be completely accurate. Like with most online content-sharing sites, there is always some research that needs to be done on what is and is not reliable, valuable, and (in a broad sense) good content.

Because YouTube is a site that I use all the time and have used it for a long time, there are several content creators that I watch and keep up with regularly for many reasons. Within this post, I will be going over the type of content and going into an analysis of said content from two content creators that I keep up with and are inspired by, why I keep up with them, and what I want to bring from their style and content into my own freelance graphic design YouTube channel.

1: Nikkie Tutorials

The first creator I'm going over is Nikkie Tutorials. Nikkie is a YouTube content creator that focuses almost solely on makeup and makeup tutorials. She's super bubbly and happy in her videos and is always really creative with her looks and video ideas. Nikkie also interacts with her subscribers and viewers in many ways, like through the community tab on her channel, using Instagram polls to help her fans interact more with the video content, and also liking or responding to comments on her videos.

One of many things about Nikkie's channel that I would want to incorporate into my own would be the happy, energetic feeling that she brings into her videos. She sets the tone for the video with her intros with her bubbly personality and keeps that up through the whole video. Another would be her incorporation of small graphics and gifs that she uses in her videos to indicate certain things about either what she's doing or the products she's using. One last thing that Nikkie does that I would want to also do in my own videos would be her transparency with her viewers. She always is honest with her opinions about products or items she's trying, even if she was given the products by the company. And she always tells her viewers if something was given to her in PR, was given to her by a company to try, if she is an affiliate with the company, or even if she bought it with her own money.

2: Shane Dawson

The second channel that I'll be diving into is Shane Dawson, or as his channel is called now "Shane". Shane is another YouTube content creator and on his channel, he does many different things. He started YouTube over ten years ago now, and originally he did comedy and skits. He did that for a few years, then changed up his style a bit. For several years, he would do other things on his channel like trying weird foods, more comedy, vlogs of him and his boyfriend, and what he was most famous for (for a long time at least) conspiracy theory videos.

Shane and his channel have grown a lot in the past couple of years, especially when he came out with his 3 part docu-series on Jake Paul/ the Paul brothers. After that, he worked on a couple other series similar to that one about other YouTube creators and different aspects of their lives and careers. Now Shane is working on more personal things on his channel and has also created a second channel called "Shane Glossin" which is about makeup, his makeup collab with Jeffree Star, and other makeup related things.

From being on YouTube for so long, Shane has been through a lot of changes within his personal life and his videos. But one thing I really enjoy about his videos is the fact that he always brings some kind of comedy into all of his videos. He also will bring in a different tone for each video (depending on what the video is about) in his intros.

Overall, there are several things from both Nikkie's channel and Shane's channel that I love and that I would love to bring into my own channel working as a freelance graphic designer.
